A migrant worker is defined as a person who moves from one place to another, often across national borders, in search of employment opportunities. This definition captures the essence of why migrant workers relocate; they are primarily driven by the prospect of better job opportunities, which may not be available in their home region. This movement can be temporary, such as seasonal work, or for longer durations, depending on the individual's situation and their home country's economic conditions.

The focus on employment underscores the economic motivation behind migration, distinguishing migrant workers from those who may move for reasons unrelated to work. For instance, individuals who seek permanent settlement typically do not fit the definition of a migrant worker, as their goal is more about establishing a long-term residence. Additionally, those who are unemployed would not be categorized as migrant workers since they have not actively engaged in employment, and a worker who stays in one location does not embody the concept of migration at all, as there is no movement involved. Thus, the correct definition highlights the relationship between migration and employment clearly and accurately.
